Average human hair will grow between 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch every month, depending on diet and often genetics. While there is no true way to make thin, dull hair all of a sudden grow thick and luscious (it's like trying to go from brunette to blonde without dyeing it, it is what it is) there ARE ways to get the maximum health and length to your strands simply by eating foods appropriate for great hair growth. Salmon is a great food for health in general, and is a great way to maximize hair growth. Since it is rich in Omega-3 fatty acids which are great for the heart and for eye health, it is great for hair as it reduces itchy scalp and dryness, and puts healthy shine in the hair to prevent breakage and dullness as it grows. There are also plant-based pills containing these healthy Omega-3s that are a great alternative for vegetarians or people who do not enjoy fish to help their heart stay healthy and have healthy hair and scalp. Dark leafy green vegetables (such as spinach and broccoli) are rich in nutrients that are once again not only just healthy for your body, providing energy with Vitamins A and C. These allow the hair to better produce sebum, a natural oily conditioner for hair that provides shine and strong strands as they grow. Goodbye, frizzy hair! Beans, such as kidney beans and lentils, are not only tasty and rich in proteins for muscle maintenance and energy, but have lots of biotin, which is essential for natural hair growth. Nuts are another great source of Omega-3s, such as walnuts and almonds, and also contain zinc. Zinc deficiency causes hair loss and thinning, so incorporating healthy raw nuts in your diet helps you keep the hair you have and help it appear fuller and healthier. Chicken, high in protein and lower in fat than beef (if eaten not fried and without the skin) helps hair keep its color. A body lacking protein lacks energy, and hair will lose its luster and color as a result. Include chicken in the diet for protein to help hair keep its color strong. Eggs have B-12 vitamins, which are healthy for skin's elasticity and for hair strength. B-12 vitamins are essential for maintaining a healthy, glowing, youthful appearance. Whole grains and oysters are strong in zinc, once again helping hair stay strong and keep its thickness, and help thinning and loss of hair return to a fuller state of health. Low-fat dairy is great for calcium, not only for your bones, but for hair growth. What calcium does for your bones in keeping them strong and able, it also does for your hair and nails, keeping follicles healthy for maximum hair growth for sturdy, nutrient absorbing hair. Not only are these foods great for keeping hair long and healthy and to help it grow to its full capacity, they also aide in keeping the body strong and able as well. Including these nutrient and vitamin rich foods to your diet a few times a week will give you a healthy hair appearance and improve your overall health as well. |
